  • Personalize email messaging using Custom Fields

Benefits of adding more data using Custom Fields

There are 3 main benefits of using Custom Fields:

  • You can store more data for your marketing leads beyond Saleswhale default fields. This helps with advanced data filtering or reporting.

  • If you are using a CRM integration, you can map more fields from your CRM to Saleswhale (e.g., Salesforce to Saleswhale).

  • You can personalize your AI Assistant's email conversations further using custom fields as merge tags.

Enriching your leads and accounts' data using Custom Fields

To access Saleswhale Custom Fields, click on your avatar in the Saleswhale app and select "Custom Fields." You will be able to add more fields to store your lead's additional data in this page.

Click "Add Custom Field." You will see the following pop-up.

In the above pop-up, choose the Field Type (Lead or Account) for your Custom Field. Lead-type Custom Fields can only be mapped to SFDC Lead/Contact objects, whereas Account-type Custom Fields can only be mapped to SFDC Account objects.

Fill out the rest of the fields accordingly:

  • The Field Name is the display name of the field and will make up a portion of the associated merge tag's name.

  • The Sample Data is an optional field that you can fill out to populate merge tags in email previews within Saleswhale.

  • The Fallback Text is another optional field; it will be used to populate merge tags when Sample Data is not available.

Save the Custom Field once done. You can then view the said field in the Custom Fields section in your Lead's and Account's details page. See screenshots below.

You will then be able to update your Custom Field values in 3 ways:

If you are using the Salesforce integration in Saleswhale, you will be able to map additional fields from Salesforce to Custom Fields added in Saleswhale. Saleswhale will use the field mapping to sync data back and forth between the two systems.

Note: The Field Type of a Custom Field cannot be changed when there is a field mapping associated with the said Custom Field.

Personalize email messaging using Custom Fields

Once you have added and mapped a Custom Field for your lead, you can use the custom field as a merge tag to personalize your AI Assistant's email messaging.

Note: Not all Custom Fields need to be used as merge tags in email messaging. Some people import Custom Fields solely for reporting purposes.
