How Salesforce field mapping works

Field mappings show which Salesforce record attributes we will be importing and which Saleswhale fields they will be stored as. The integration can work with either Salesforce Lead and Contact Object.

Saleswhale integration with Salesforce will import the Lead/Contact data from the mapped fields when you enroll a Salesforce report to a Saleswhale campaign. You can use the data imported to personalize your email for each of your leads.

Saleswhale will pre-map 3 fields by default as they are required by our system to create a lead record.

  • Id

  • First Name

  • Email

You can customize which fields in Salesforce should be mapped to the rest of the Saleswhale lead fields.

We recommend you map these 6 fields as well so you can personalise your emails with merge tags using the data from these fields

  • Last Name

  • Account name

  • Company name

  • Job Title

  • Lead Owner Email

  • Job Title

After these fields have been mapped across successfully, you can find them when you navigate to your Lead's detail page and click on 'Edit Details'.

The mapped attributes will not be editable within the Saleswhale app.

For now, we only pull in Salesforce attributes on the first import. Any subsequent changes made on your Salesforce records will not be synced across to Saleswhale.

The difference between default fields and customizable fields

Default field mapping

Saleswhale integration with Salesforce maps some fields automatically. These default field mappings include:

  • Id (Salesforce) -> CRM Object Id (Saleswhale)

  • First Name (Salesforce) -> First Name (Saleswhale)

  • Email (Salesforce) -> Email (Saleswhale)

At this moment, you will not be able to change the mapping of the default fields.

Customizable field mapping

Other than the 3 fields above, you will be able to add, remove and map more fields from Salesforce to Saleswhale. This will help you to have more options to personalize the AI's emails and collect more data for your CRM from Saleswhale.

Delete custom field mappings

If you no longer want to sync data between a Saleswhale property and Salesforce field in a custom field mapping, you can delete the mapping.

Please note: only custom field mappings can be deleted in Saleswhale.

FAQ

What will happen after I map a field?

Saleswhale will import the field data when you enroll a lead or contact report from Salesforce to Saleswhale.

What will happen after I change the mapping of an existing field mapping?

Saleswhale will import the data from the new mapping when you enroll a lead or contact report from Salesforce to Saleswhale.

What if I don't map the Lead Owner field?

If you skip mapping of Lead Owner field, or the field is not mapped successfully to the right type, Saleswhale will round-robin qualified leads to the list of sales reps in Saleswhale, ignoring the pre-assigned Lead Owner in your Salesforce settings.
